Build A Poem - Lego for Verse
For many people, poetry is a subject from their school days. They might remember reading Shakespeare or examples of other historical writing. Our Build a Poem tool is a rigorously tested tool which enables complete novices and even skeptics to formulate original words, phrases and images.
The tool takes the hard work of structuring a poem away. We provide a series of prompts carefully designed to match the issue you want to work on. Step by step we build a poem unique to each participant. Every stage of the poem builds a new layer of meaning, using participant's own words, phrases and images.
Each poem is unique to every individual. This means we can deliver the same tool too multiple people the same time, but still achieve something each individual can call their own.
Along the way participants discover new ways to think about and discuss the issue they have been working on. The result is when they are asked to explain the concept under discussion to someone else, they are empowered to do so using words, phrases and images they chose for themselves. In our experience this is not only delightful for the participant, it also begins to build new skills such as concision, comparison and original thinking.
